Name: Hailkit~Hailpaw~Hailstorm Age: 55 Moons Group: RiverClan Gender: She-cat Position: Warrior Description: The Build Long fur, big paws, tuffs of fur at the tips of each ear, and a body that's is overall very large. When you hear those words, what comes to mind? Well, what comes to mine is a certain breed of cat-the maine coon. With fur that stays very long through every season, a large, muscular build, and two cute eyes that just scream, 'Wanna take me home with you?', it's hard to resist this certain type of cat. And, surprisingly enough, Hailstorm is that kind of cat. But Hailstorm is small-a normal size for another cat, due to maine coons being so large in comparison, but small to the rest of her kind. So Hailstorm appears to be you average size warriore-not to big, not to small. As such, she is also your average hight. Also unlike her kind, Hailstorm is very lean, slim, and dainty; this white she-cat is definately lacking in the muscles department. She is as light as a feather, or as light as an she-cat her age can be. As for build, as said above, Hailstorm has very little muscles-almost none at all compared to the rest of her breed. She is very skinny and lean, allow passage through otherwise unaccessable areas. Like the rest of her species, Hailstorm has large boning, though it is a tad bit smaller then the average maine coon's due to her small size.
The Size and Shape Since she is smaller then normal, her features are obviously smaller then the rest of her breed. But, compared to any cat, even her size, Hailstorm's ears are a tad bit shorter. The point outwards and face the direction her head is. At the top of each ear is a small tuft of fur, and the fur inside her ears is quite long. Her tail is quite long, compared to your normal cat, but normal for a maine coon. It's very long, flowy, with lots of fluff to boot-expeccially at the very base. Her tail is probably one of the she-cat's most noticable features-only second to her brilliant colored eyes. Hailstorm's paws are no larger then your typical short-haired cat-much smaller then your average maine coon. Her hind paws are a bit larger then her front ones, but not by much. The typical maine coon's claws are longer then normal due to their large size. But Hailstorm isn't your typicla maine coon, now is she? In fact, Hailstorm's claws are actually shorter then most's. As for the size of her head, it's no bigger or smaller then any other warrior.
The Fur With all these differences between this she-cat and her breed, your probably wondering, 'is there anything similar between her and her breed'? Why, yes. A maine coon's fur is very soft and smooth-a pleasure to the touch. Hailstorm no different. The she-cat takes pride in her fur for many reasons-the way it looks, feels, and so much more. She is constantly seen grooming herself as she believe that looking her best is a must. In addition, with such long fur, it's hard to keep it from fluffing up. As said before, this apprentice's fur is very long. It's a bit shorter then normal, but is still quite long all the same. Any clan cat that is not a kit are medicine cat has scars. Why should Hailstorm be any different? Because she doesn't fight all that often due to being ashamed of her lack of physical strength, she doesn't have many scars.. And scars she does would most likely be unnoticable due to her long fur covering up most, if not all, of them.
The Colors When you read the word 'hail' what do you imagine? Rain? White chunks of ice raining down from the sky? Each of these things can be compared to the color of Hailstorm, whether it be her fur, her eyes, almost anything about her colors. One of two colors can stand out to you when you first look at her-white or blue. White is the color of this she-cat's pelt, and what a snowy white it is! It's what earned her the name Hailkit. In all actuallity, however, it is actually a very, very pale gray. Her most noticable feature is most likely the color of her eyes. A blue as clear as the sky and a color that reminds you of ice, one that Hailstorm had planted on her face only add more meaning to the prefix 'hail'. The color of her second is just the opposite-a shade of amber that seems odd, sitting beside an eye of a different color. She takes almost as much pride in them as she does in her fur. On the subject of eyes, Hailstar's are more round then anything. The only thing that throws off their oval-shaped look, there are tiny points-one on each eye pointing downward and towards her noes and another on each eye that points to the side and outward from her face. They seem a bit to small to fit on her face, however, but look right for your typical maine coon.
The Colors Continued Though the insides of Hailstorm's ears appear to be lighter then that actually are due to the many white strands of fur that poke out of them, they are actually the same color as the she-cat's nose. Each are a bright shade of pink that don't stand out much in the sea of white fur. Her pads are a similar color, only a bit darker with a tint of gray to them. Her teeth were once a pale grayish color, but have sense turned a tad bit more yellow. Not by much, but the difference is still there. And, finally, the color of her tongue is like that of her nose-only in a darker shade of pink. Personality: My Strength is Your Weakness... Hailstorm is much more mature. She's very punctual and persise, a complete perfectionist. Every cat has a good side and a bad side, and while some are more blanced then others, not person is an exception except mary sues/gary stus. First of, Hailstorm is a very loyal she-cat. She puts her clan before all things, even her well being, and is devoted protecting it at all costs. Her loyalty has been known to even scare some of the cats around her, as it seems that nothing means more to her then that. The she-cat is also known to be quite courteous. Her manners are wonderful and she treats almost everyone with the same respect. Even when under great pressure, Hailstorm can keep her cool and make the right decisions. She'd very decisive and once her mind is made up, it's made up. Nothing can get her to change her mind other then her own mind, and even then she'll be to stubborn to admit her mistake. Hailstorm has been known as a perserverer; even when throw to the ground, she'll get back up and try again. Her very motto is to never give up, no matter how much of a pessimist she is. When she begins to do something, she'll get so focused on it, she forgets where she is and sometimes even who's with her at the time depending on how focused she is. She won't stop until her task is complete. Like it was said before, Hailstorm is very mature, even for her age. It almost seems as though a warrior's mind was stuck inside the mind of a kit when she was born (which would also explain her mass intellegance). She often takes responsibility for as much as she can, whether it be training, hunting, or just watching over other cats like herself. She believes that she has as much authority as cats older then herself and tries to take charge of situations assigned to other warriors. And, finally, her greatest strength is also her greatest weakness-her intellegance. What this she-cat lacks in physical power, she makes up for in brain power. She's probably one of, if not, the smartest cat in her clan...
My Weakness is Your Strength... But, like every cat has their strengths, every cat also has their weaknesses. And what are Hailstorm's, you might ask? Well, for starters, she's very cold. She doesn't dislike the people around exactly, but thinks little of them and is almost never seen without a scowl. See likes staying distant from others, mentally and physically, and doesn't really open up to others much. She makes sure to awnser very little when others ask her personal questions and is very guarded. Your usuall warrior is bursting with energy and ready to serve, loyal to the bone, and enthusiastic about what they do for their clan. But, as you probably have figured out by now, Hailstorm isn't that kind of cat. She's very unenthusiastic, seeing almost all of her work as a bore. In fact, most things to her are very boring. But, being the responcible, focused cat she is, Hailstorm doesn't complain about her work to others, just in her head. She relies solely on herself, believing that others can't be trusted to do anything. For this reason, she puts to much work on herself and is often exhausted. Because of her cold appearance, many cats tend to stray away from this intelegent, she-cat unless it's very necessary, leaving her even more lonely and cold then before. She's unfriendly to people who she is not used to being around, and can come of as very mean to people who she's just met. This also leaves her with little to no friends, but what others don't know is that, if you can get past her pessimistic behavior, you'll have a very loyal and trustworthy friend. Yes, Hailstorm is a pessimist. Her outlook on the world is as cold as ice and dull. She sees life as more of a burden then anything and doesn't really care whether she lives another day or dies on the spot. She is very suspicious, expecially of cats she does not know or are from outside RiverClan, and doesn't trust anyone she can't open up to.
((Cut short due to laziness... It's long enough, though...)) Family: Mother: Icesong-small white she-cat with icy blue eyes (deceased) Father: Foreststrike-large, long-haired tabby tom with green eyes (deceased) Siblings: None Adopted Mother: Frostheart-white she-cat with brown mussle, paws, ears, and tail; blue eyes Adopted Siblings: Mistkit-gray she-cat with dark mussle and tail tip (deceased); Shademask-white tom with pale gray tabby mussle, paws, ears, and tail tip Former Mate: Reedfang-handsom black tom with blue eyes History: Reasons From the very beginning... Hailstorm was unwanted. Born to two loyal warriors who had anxiously awaited the arrival of their first born kit, one would would imagine her early moons would be mice and moonlight, right? Wrong. Hailstorm never felt the unconditional love others kits felt at birth. She never had this feeling of being wanted. She was all alone in the world for many, many moons of her life. And the feeling has never really gone away. Her mother was never there for her. Her father disowned her. Her siblings never stuck up for her. And she always wondered why. She was an ordinary kit... right? Again, if you thought that, you'd be dead wrong. All of this happened for a reason that the white she-cat would find out not long afterwards.
Hailstorm killed her mother.
So it Begins Hailstorm-then Hailkit didn't actually kill her mother. The birthing process was to much for the fragile she-cat and she died giving birth. The white kit was given to another queen whose kits had been born not long before the herself. She would never know that her mother had died, as the clan tried to keep her mothers death a secret. Her father blamed her. His first and only kit and his mate had died. In the tom's eyes, she had killed her real mother, but he never admitted his true feelings. Even from the start, Hailkit was different then the other kits. Even when other kits would ask her to play, she would always brush them off. She spent much time wondering around the camp, muttering odd snippets of wisdom a kit like herself would not have known. It scared others; maybe even her parents. Others left of alone for most of the time, almost ignoring her existence. What they didn't understand was that the young kit did not dislike being around them, just lacked the social skills to actually talk or play. She wasn't exactly shy, rather, she was just not good at coming up with words. The white kit often came up with imaginary cats, ones she wished to be like, who she 'played' with and tried to make friends with fresh kill, even though the creatures were already dead.
The Early Days When Hailkit was three moons old, a younger, arrogant kit decided to pick a fight with her. Many cats believed the larger and, most likely, stronger of the two would win, paws down. But the white she-cat was struggling over the weak tom's grip in only a matter of heartbeats. She challenged him again, claiming it was a simple fluke. But, once more, he managed to pin her down with little effort. And this happened again and again. She'd challenge him and other kits to fight and she always winded up being pinned down to the ground. The others thought it was amusing. It was then that they started teasing her for being so weak. They said that she'd never be a warrior, that she's just be stuck as a stupid queen, never fighting. Angry and upset, the kit began to grow more distant from others and was found crying in self pity. She tried to spend as much time with her mother as she could, trying to stay away from the other kits as she could. She's hide in shame, not wanting to be seen by those watchful, hurtful eyes.
It Only Gets Worse But things only got worse. The kits would crowd around Hailkit, blocking her from leaving the nursery to get away. They'd taunt her, pick on her, even physically bully her because they knew she wouldn't be strong enough to do anything about it. None of the warriors, apprentices, or queens ever actually found out, so the white maine coon's denmates were allowed to do as they pleased to her. But, being so weak wasn't the only thing that opened her up to teasing. Her greatest strength now was and still is her greatest weakness as well. Her intelligence. The other kits and apprentices thought she was crazy for muttering words that they could not understand, so they made fun of her for being 'crazy'. Of course, she wasn't, just to smart for her own good. But did they understand? If they did, they wouldn't be poking fun at, now would they? So the she-cat grew more and more cold.
The Apprentice Days As Hailkit moved on to be Hailpaw, life didn't really seem to look up. Her cold outlook on the world was still growing and she began somewhat of a pessimist. Bullying continued, as the she-cat could not fight to save her life and was never put on any battle patrols of there was one. Because she was always scowling and not to friendly to people she did not know, Hailpaw was left without a friend. She didn't see her father very much as the tom seemed to ashamed to look at her. Her mother grew more and more harsh with her adopted daughter. A rift between the family began to form and the white apprentice felt like was was living in her own little world... alone. But then, her father revealed the awful secret the clan had worked so hard to keep-Hailpaw's mother was not her real mother, just her adopted mother. He also told her that she had killed her mother and that she was worthless, that she didn't deserve to be a part of RiverClan. From that moment on, the young apprentice saw his hateful stares coming from the senior warrior and she and her 'mother' seemed worlds apart. The she-cat's world had begun to fall apart... but she was determined to put the peices back together and become the warrior her real mother would have wanted her to be. Her apprentice days seemed to go by faster then they actually did and it wasn't long before young Hailpaw moved on to be Hailstorm.
A New Warrior Dispite the other apprentices mocking her, one apprentice stood out from the rest-Reedpaw. The tom had been there for her when she needed him and had been one of the greatest friends she could ask for. Sure, they always argued, but they always made up in the end. When the two became warriors, the black tom began to show more affection towards her-something that completely confused her. For a few moons, he'd show little snippets of a possible crush on the white warrior, but he didn't say anything until they were about twenty moons. He admitted that he loved her and wanted to know if she shared the same feelings towards him. She was unsure at first, lying and saying she did, but over the next few moons, she was certain about her feelings. She loved Reedfang. The two had so many plans planned out. They were going to retured together, maybe have a litter or two of kits, and be the closest couple in the history of RiverClan. Hailstorm's cold deminor began to melt away with happiness as she and Reedfang spent more and more time together. But sometimes... good things fall apart with one glance.
Unloved and Unwanted The black tom had begun to grow more distant from his mate after a while and had become very... buddy buddy with another warrior, much younger then Hailstorm. At first, the she-cat brushed it off as just another friendship; no one in the world could compare to her in Reedfang's eyes... at least, that's what he told her. But the tom began to disappear from camp with the new female warrior and Hailstorm couldn't help but be a little suspicious. What she saw made it feel as though life itself shattered beneath her paws-he was cheating on her. He explained that he had never loved her from the start-it was an elaborit plan formed by his real mate-the one with him. He was willing to spend all that time with her just to pull the rug out from under her. He had been along with the other apprentices and had an awful dislike towards the white warrior. Heart broken and enraged, Hailstorm raced back to camp, wishing that day had never happened.
My Duty Comes Before All After that day, Hailstorm swore she would never fall in love again. And friends? If anyone in her clan actually cared for her, she'd have to think about it. No one else could be trusted. She could only rely on herself to fo things. She worked harder and harder every day, exhausting herself by going on so many patrols every day. She worked herself to the bone, getting out of camp as much as she could to get away from any social life she could develope while in camp. Other: Nya~!
